Race Director can run GT-1 Division B drivers in Division A, or vice versa, (but score in their regular division) in order to even out the heats and/or reduce the number of required races. If 3 entries or less, the Class will be run with another Class, and be scored separately.

5.7      Sit out Procedure:

5.7.1            When it is a racer’s turn to sit out, he/she is to remove their lane sticker, and place it on the inside wall of the track, at the point their car stops at “power off”.  The sticker is removed from the wall when the car is replaced on the track.

5.7.2            Sit out cars are to be placed on the race director’s podium during the sit out period.

5.7.3            Sit out cars are pitted after power-off of the lane prior to the sit out’s return.

5.8      Lane Changes:  If the car is moved from where it came to rest at “power off”, a lane change marker must be placed. Failure to use a lane change marker: first offense- warning; second and more a lap penalty per occurrence.

5.8.1            Lane change markers can be any non-metal object. .

5.8.2             Racers or assistants can service a car at the track, where the car came to a stop at power off, without using a lane change marker.

5.8.3            A car pulled from a race for repair with “power-on” needs no lane change marker, and can be placed back on the track at any location, by the driver or an assistant.

5.11     Impounded cars:

5.11.1         Impounding of cars after Tech:  cars impounded are not to be touched.  Any working on cars after Impound (unless specifically approved by the Tech Director) is grounds for disqualification.

5.11.2         Impounding of cars after a race:  racers are always to leave their car in the spot where it comes to rest at “power off” of the last lane.  Cars impounded after a race are not to be touched until released by the Race Director.

5.12     Lap-counter failures

5.12.1         Uncounted laps:  laps not counted will be added, provided that the missed lap claimed is verified (a) by a Marshal and/ or (b) by lap time observance by the Race Director.

5.12.2         In the event of a general failure of the lap-counting hardware or software, found during a race, the race will be re-started at the beginning of the lane where the failure

first occurred. Racers will be allowed a brief time to service their cars.

5.12.3         If the automatic lap-counting system cannot be repaired, people will be assigned as manual counters by the Race Director.

5.12.4         In some cases a particular motor (particularly at high timing) will not count.  In these cases, this is seen as a car failure- not a track failure- and Racers will have to make whatever changes are necessary (usually a motor change), with the program continuing without delay to allow this change.

  5.13     Tech inspections:

5.13.1         Technical Director’s Gages are official for all TRRS events.

5.13.2         “Mistakes” in building will be handled on a friendly “instructive” basis.

5.13.3         The Tech Director will conduct pre-race, and may conduct random in-race tech inspections to ensure rules compliance.

5.13.4         In-race tech:  the Tech Director will occasionally tech the cars during a race.  Any car found to be out of spec must be corrected after racing resumes (after “power on”).

5.13.5         If a substitution of an illegal motor (any Class) or substitution of a handout motor (GT-1) is found, the driver may be disqualified.

5.13.6         If in-race tech inspections are conducted, the following apply: (a) rear tire diameter (minimum .750”); (b) rear track width- max. 3-1/4”, (c) rear clearance (must be min. .055” at any in-race tech), (d) match of handout motor number to tech slip, (e) body height above tech plate.  Any car found not in compliance must be corrected after power-on.  (Cars will not be found illegal for minor variations or infractions, or normal wear of tires or components during the race{s}as long as minimum tire diameter .755 and .055 rear clearance are maintained).

TRRS Rules                                                                            Rev.  6/06

5.13.7         The Tech Director may also conduct post-race tech and teardown of any or all cars, including motors.  Cars found

in violation (beyond race wear and tear in the opinion of the Tech Inspector) will be disqualified.

5.14    Protests:

5.14.1         Rules compliance is an important part of the success and continuation of the  TRRS Series, and a method is needed where competitors can file protests for alleged Rules violations.

5.14.2         Filing a protest-   A racer may file a formal protest against another’s car by giving the Tech Director a written note, explaining specifically what he/she feels is wrong with another racer’s car (naming one suspected component- such as “motor”, “clearance” etc.).

5.14.3         The Protest must be accompanied by a $5 Protest Fee.

5.14.3.1     If a disqualification is made, Protest Fee is refunded.

5.14.3.2     If no disqualification is made (for the protested offense)- the protested driver gets the fee.

5.14.4         The Tech Director may/may not accept the Protest, at the Tech Director’s sole discretion.

5.14.5         The protested driver may be disqualified ONLY for a violation involving the component named in the Protest.

5.14.6         The racer filing the Protest, and the Protested Racer are the only ones allowed to witness any teardown or inspection.

5.15   It is the racers responsibility to field a car that meets all TRRS Rules, at all times.

TRRS Rules                                                                                            Rev.  6/06

Section 1- General Rules- How TRRS Events Are Run

Section 2- General Technical Rules 2006-2007

Section 3- TRRS Class Rules

These are the complete official TRRS Rules that apply to all TRRS Classes.  In the case of a discrepancy between these General Rules and an individual Class Spec Sheet, or any other information, these General Rules apply.  The General Rules as published on the TRRS website (trrsweb.com) – most recent revision- are assumed to be public knowledge, and are Official.

1.0    Objective of the Series: These Rules are written to minimize competition focused on technological advances, and maximize the fun of racing “equal” cars.

2.0    Technical Director’s ruling on any matter applies over these or any other Rules. The Technical Director may allow, at his sole discretion, a car to race one grace event, after notifying the Member of the needed change.

3.0    Commercially-available: all products (except controllers, paint, decals) used in the TRRS Series must be available from slot car products' distributors at the time of the event.

4.0    Controllers: No controller may have power from batteries, or any source but the track.  Controllers may be home-made, provided that they meet the requirements of the individual Class, as stated in the Rules for that Class.

5.0    Body Rules

5.1    Goal of the Series:  Preference will be given to cars, rules, and bodies that most closely resemble 1:1 race cars.

5.2    Bodies: Specific bodies are approved for each TRRS Class. These are published on the Rules, and in individual Class Spec Sheets for each specific Class.

5.3    New bodies and equipment: As new bodies and other equipment are introduced, the Series directors will evaluate their “fit” to the Series; if they are acceptable, an announcement will be made in the next TRRS NEWS, and the new product will be approved starting at the following TRRS events.

5.4     No air control of any type may be added to any body, unless specifically allowed for a given body or Class.

5.4.1           Diaplanes molded into the body may be retained.

5.4.2           May add a mylar/lexan diaplane for front reinforcement in any Class.

5.4.3           Added-on diaplane may NOT protrude from the body.

5.5    Bodies must cover entire chassis when viewed from above; top of the body (hood, fenders, etc.) may not be cut out for motor, chassis, gear or guide clearance.  Any cut-outs must be the same as on the 1:1 car.

TRRS Rules                                                                            Rev.  6/06

Section 2- General Technical Rules- Apply to all TRRS Classes

Page 2

5.6    May reinforce body with self-adhesive lexan, mylar, glue, and/or tape.

5.7    Paint and decoration: all cars must be painted, opaque, including sides.  If chassis, or other components can be seen through the body, the Tech Director has the right to refuse to allow it to race.

5.7.1           Racing Numbers: Bodies must have a minimum of three 1/4" minimum high racing numbers – must be painted, decal or sticker (no marker numbers).

5.7.2           “Sponsor” markings, stickers and decals:  In all Classes, at least one major sponsor decal, or sticker is required.  Must be painted, decal or sticker (no marker numbers).  This decal or sticker must be at least half the width of the rear wing in size (approximately 1-1/2”), although it can be mounted anywhere on the car.

5.7.3           No obscene or offensive graphics (in the opinion of the Technical Director) may be used on any car; in the event of such graphics, the Technical Director will refuse to allow the car on the track.

5.7.4           Front wheels visible:  the front wheels must be visible either by

5.7.4.1      the body having been cut out to the vertical wheel vertical centerline, or

5.7.4.2      by the body having been left clear showing at least the lower 50% vertical diameter of the front wheel(s).

5.8     Guide flag hidden: the guide flag must be under the car so as to not be visible viewed from the top of the car.

5.9    Windows left clear: on all "coupe" and sedan bodies, the windshield and side windows must be left clear.  This also prohibits “tinted” windshields and side “glass”. On GT-1 bodies with rear windows, the rear window may be left clear, be painted black (or “tint”), or be painted to match the color scheme of the car.

5.10       Driver figures: all bodies must have a painted and detailed 1/24th scale 3-D driver and   interior, using paint and/or markers, with a head w/helmet, arms, shoulders, and a steering wheel in the normal position in the car. No paper drivers in any Class.  Driver figure and interior must block view of the chassis when viewed from above.

6.1.3           As new chassis are introduced, TRRS will evaluate the chassis for inclusion in the Series, determine the date at which the “commercially available” Rule is met, and make an announcement that the new chassis is now approved. This will be via the TRRS NEWS newsletter.

6.2    Clearance:

6.2.1           Rear clearance is checked as follows: If the tech plate (or other gage) placed flat under the chassis at the rear axle, MOVES the car, it is too low, and must be reset and re-presented for Tech before racing.  This applies under the gear as well as the rear of the chassis.

6.2.2           In the event of an in-race tech, car must have a minimum .055” clearance under the rear of the chassis, AND a minimum rear tire diameter of .750.

6.2.3           Front clearance: A car that the Tech Director feels might damage the track surface will not be allowed to race, or will be “black flagged” during the race.  NOTE: at certain raceways, 1/16 (.063") clearance “all around" will apply.  In these cases, an announcement will be made using TRRSWEB and TRRS News.

6.2.4           Minimum rear tire diameter is .750” at all times, for all Classes.

6.2.5           Width: the 3-1/4" tech gage must slide over the rear tires and wheels, and not be tight enough so as to support the weight of the car.

6.3    Chassis modifications: A " Modification" is defined an any change or addition requiring cutting, grinding, gluing, fastening using screws, or soldering, or the addition of any component other than as specifically permitted in the Rules.

6.3.1           No cutting, bracing or grinding of the chassis is permitted, except as specifically allowed here.

Class-Specific Rules 2006-2007

TRRS GT-1;  Junior, and Open A, and Open B Divisions

1.0     Purpose: TRRS GT-1 is a Spec Class designed to equalize all aspects of the race, except the racer.  It is also designed to provide low-cost, competitive racing, and allow racing using the basic equipment normally found in a “starter kit”.  Ready-to-run TRRS GT-1 cars are available from Parma International- order Parma Flexi 5 #433E, or a Starter Kit #SS433ETX.

2.0     General Rules apply.

3.0     Controllers: Must run a standard or homemade resister controller or any (fixed) resistance controller, with NO adjustments such as “punch”, sensitivity, or brake.  No electronic or external-resister controllers are permitted in the Class.

3.1      Permitted controller modifications: You may change gauge (but not number) of controller wires, and/or attach a heat sink.

3.2     You may not add a “full punch” or “clicker” relay.

4.0     Chassis:  see General Technical Rules.

5.0     Gearing: Must run 48 pitch / 28 tooth plastic spur gear, on 1/8“ rear axle, NO hollow axles.  (Pinion gears will be provided on the handout motors.)  Motor pinions are set for running the spur gear “hub out”.  The spur gear is teched by measuring OD using a dial/digital caliper- a 28-tooth spur will be .620 inches +/- .004.  If a spur gear is outside these measurements, it is checked by (a) counting the teeth, or (b) finding a manufacturer marking.

6.0     Body Rules

6.1     May run any body from approved list.

6.2     Driver figures: see General Technical Rules.

6.3     Must use an interior and detailed driver (similar to Parma 808); windows must be left clear.   On bodies with rear windows, the rear window may be left clear, be painted black (“tint”), or be painted to match the color scheme of the car.

6.4     Decoration: See General Technical Rules.

6.5     Must retain a min. 1mm. (.039”) “vertical” front bumper.

8.0     Race Day Procedure – TRRS GT-1 Divisions

8.1     Motors are to be handed out with the objective of allowing racers minimum access to the motors before the race.

8.2     Motors are selected by the racer from a box, which allows full view of the motors.  Racers cannot pick up the motors and examine them- once a motor is touched, that is the motor the racer selected.

8.3     Motors are selected, and soldered into the car , by the racer, at the tech table.  TRRS will supply soldering iron(s) at the table for this purpose.

8.4     Alternate Method to 8.3- (this method is not preferred, since it allows more access to the handout motors by racers.)   Motors are selected, and taken to the racers pit.  A maximum of 15 minutes is allowed for the racers to solder the handout motor into their chassis.  In this case, the car is teched  AFTER the motor is installed.

8.5     In all cases, cars are impounded, and “gridded” (by heat) just as the 2-minute practice is started.

8.6     “Luck of the Draw”: Handout motors are broken-in and maintained by TRRS.  Every effort is made to have “equal” motors, but there will be minor variations in motors.  There are no exchanges for motors that may be slower than others.   Any variations are “luck of the draw” and the racer will have to race with that motor.

TRRS Rules                                                                            Rev.  6/06

Section 2- Class Specific Rules

Page 3

8.7     (Using handout motors) If a car fails to run (will not start) when the power is “on” for the race warmup, there is a track call while the racer and TRRS Race Director determine if the motor is defective, or if it is something in the car causing the problem.  If defective, another handout motor will be issued.  Racer has to repair any problem with car or installation during the warmup.

8.8     Motor failure during a race is not anticipated due to the spec gearing and maintenance of the motors.  Motor failures during the race are presumed to be caused by the car being defective (bound axle, etc.), and the racer has to withdraw- there are no substitute motors.

8.9     NO changes (including replacing brushes, “tweaking” of brush springs, altering of brush hood alignment, changing pinions, or cranking timing) may be made to any handout motor.  A violation of this Rule is a disqualification.

8.10   Any racer found to be modifying a TRRS Handout Motor, or substituting another, will be disqualified, and will score zero points for that GT-1 race, with no refund of entry fees, or dues.  A second offense will result in the racer being asked to leave the Series.

8.11  Racers are asked not to use ANY fluids, except oil, on the handout motors- fluids (such as com drops or Voodoo Drops) reduce the life of the motor.

8.12   Race Director can run GT-1 Division B drivers in Division A, or vice versa, (but score in their regular division) in order to even out the heats and/or reduce the number of required races.
